THE TRAINING
Dogs will go through anywhere around 6 months -1.5 years of training before being placed.
Training involves exposure to as many contexts as possible to build well-rounded dogs.
We utilize various businesses and properties around Montana for realistic training opportunities.
The dogs are incorporated into our regional training group from the get go.
Future handlers are encouraged to attend our regional Montana unit trainings even before attending their school.

HANDLING SCHOOL
Once a dog is ready to be placed, the handlers must attend a handling school.
The schools combine both classroom and field work.
Handlers must pass a written test, as well as certification testing for each discipline they plan to work in.
The schools usually take place partly in Helena, MT and partly in the handlers own area.
After the school, handlers have access to an unbelievable amount of support from other handlers and trainers.

CERTIFICATION
We certify through the American Society of Canine Trainers.
Certification standards can be requested from the cert board.
There are three trainers available within Montana who can certify K9 teams.
To maintain yearly certification standards, a conference is held once per year in Montana.
